Aktiv Assekuranz in Argentina

A little bit of our history...

In 1986, while dealing with goods transport policies for exporters, issued by some argentine insurance companies, Juan Angel Gonz�lez contacted the "Asociaci�n Argentina de Agentes de Cargas Internacionales - AAACI" (Argentine Association of International Cargo Agents). In this meeting, Mr. Oscar Villar, president of AAACI, expressed the necessity of the development of new policies which could cover the Responsability of the Cargo Agent. Some years were needed for developing this idea, for it was totally new in the world's market. It had only been heard that in Europe there was a Company selling them.

In May, 1990 ALACAT set up it's annual Congress in the city of Cancun, organized by the  Asociaci�n Mexicana de Agentes de Cargas (Mexican Asociation of Cargo Agents). A new comision was elected, presided by Mr. Ant�n, who designated Mr.  Gonzalez to be the person to negotiate that policy in the German market.

In August, 1990, Juan Angel Gonzalez flew to Munich, and went to Aktiv Assekuranz offices. It was the beginning of an authentic, profitable and friendly relationship, that continues on through today.

Mr. J�rgen Bochanski visited Buenos Aires in February, 1992, and verified the Latin American commercial potential. After that, the office in Buenos Aires began under franchising, taking the name of Aktiv Assekuranz Argentina.

During ALACAT Congresses in Punta del Este and Cartagena, that took place in 1991 and 1992 each, Aktiv Assekuranz activities started to be known at a Latin American level.

Those were years of slow, but constant, progress. Both the selling of insurances to cover the responsability of Cargo Agents and the goods insurances were developed. In Argentina the firm became popular and it is difficult to find a single freight forwarder that does not know Aktiv Assekuranz. We can state with pride that 70% of the Argentine market is Aktiv's client, Along with growing shares in Mexico, Chile, Uruguay, and Miami.

The year 1996, however, was especially remarkable. ALACAT was organized in Buenos Aires, where Aktiv once again had its own stand . Also, Mr. Bochanski came to the Congress for its final days. During one of the parallel meetings it was agreed with the new ALACAT president, Mr. Jorge Pereira,for the creation of  a global policy for Cargo Agents. In October, the annual FIATA Congress took place in Caracas, where Aktiv participated with its own stand for the first time, and was accepted as a partner. On addition, the new Multimodal Cover was announced to the world.

The Multimodal Cover was created to fill an empty space that had been difficult to reach, until that moment. With only one policy, the insurance company covers all the shipment documents issued or received by the freight forwarder, either aerial, maritime or terrestrial. Which established a completely new paradigm is that Multimodal contracts can also be covered. The other important point is the Operatory, since with only one fixed monthly premium, all the shipments can be insured without the risk of forgetting one or of declaring them too late.

All these was reviewed in the annual FIATA meeting, that took place in Vienna in October, 1997, where, once again, Aktiv had its own stand.

There is no doubt that Aktiv has attracted the freight forwarders market, with special importance of  Aktiv in Buenos Aires, it has entered the Spanish speaking world.  That's why, since 1998 Aktiv has started to operate in Miami, with the certainty acquired by the profesional knowledge of the needs of taking care of the cargo security in both English and Spanish.
